Nurturing Selves opened in January 2023 to provide the highest quality evidence-based and trauma-informed therapeutic services to children, age 12 months to 18 years, their parents/caregivers, and their families. We also provide services to adults in a fun, playful, and stress-reducing atmosphere. We use brain-based, bottom-up practices, backed by the latest neuroscience research, to help with emotional regulation, social interactions, academic performance, and decision-making.

In 2025, Nurturing Selves incorporated and expanded its services to reach more adolescents and adults with age-appropriate play therapy. We created a new facility “where healing play happens” to help teens and adults heal in a fun, playful, and stress-reducing atmosphere.

"Life is about using the whole box of crayons"- Ru Paul

Regardless of the color or how broken they appear, crayons can always be restored and brought back to their original foundation. In the same way that we humans do, it provides them with the ability to continue on by creating a beautiful blend and forming a harmonious unity that transcends individual differences. When you and I collaborate, we will begin merging colors and producing a mesmerizing symphony of hues. It is a visual spectacle that evokes awe and wonder. It reminds us of the inherent beauty of diversity and collaboration power held within you.

I am a highly trained, passionate, and dedicated advocate with over six years' professional experience as a clinical social worker. I have an extensive background working directly with foster care youth and their families, biological and/or foster parents alike. I have experience in Applied Behavior Analysis, which is the therapeutic intervention used with those diagnosed with autism. Along with working with individuals or those who live(d) with someone already diagnosed/struggling to cope with the following: Substance abuse, Addiction, Power/Control dynamics, Personality Disorders, ADHD, ODD, Human Trafficking and/or Sexual Abuse, Parent/Child relationship(s) and so much more!

China Davis, LLMSW

My name is China Davis, and I am an MSW intern at Arizona State University. I have experience working with children and their families for over 13 years as a Preschool Teacher. I am a very driven and goal-oriented individual who has a strong desire to help others, and with gratitude, I embrace this as my life’s path and professional journey. I’ve realized small acts of kindness and help can go a long way, and I love doing this without expecting anything in return. I hope that, in any way, I can pay it forward and help people heal and move past whatever challenges or traumas hindering them from becoming the best person they can be.

Audrey Gilmour, LLMSW

Clinical Therapist

Hi! My name is Audrey Gilmour and I am a passionate therapist here at Nurturing Selves. My journey began with working in schools, where I gained an appreciation for the role that social and emotional skills play in a child’s ability to engage with academics and the world at large. Having worked in schools, foster care, family services, juvenile justice, and community mental health settings, I bring a diverse set of skills and experiences to suit each individual’s unique set of circumstances. My professional and personal experiences have prepared me to work with a variety of areas of need including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, depression and anxiety disorders, family dynamics, LGBTQ+, and so much more!

I am so excited and honored to have the opportunity to work with you here at Nurturing Selves on our journey to help every child and adult engage and express their inner child. Let’s harness the powers of play and creativity together!
